Wholesaling Smarts: Eric Hits A Wall TGE Episode 3 (Part 13)

Wholesaling Smarts

This is a continuation of “The Great Escape” interview with Eric Thiele. Eric is working with Sean Terry and Flip2Freedom.com to learn how to start up a successful wholesaling business. In this section, Sean and Eric discuss perseverance in the workplace.

Eric: As soon as this first house sells, I’m going to net out $180,000, and I think I can invest into marketing.

Sean: Then we can scale it and escape quicker.

Eric: And it’s all IRA money. So I won’t have to pay tax on it for a while.

Sean: That’s cool. It’s deferred. That’s awesome. So for people listening right now that are kind of in that month timeframe, to where they’re, you know, I’ve got life that’s taking over, I’m limited funds and stuff like that. What would you, if you were looking back, do different in that month, now that you’re taking this action to go take it. What would you tell someone that’s in that kind of lull period?

Eric: I should have been pursuing scraping Craig’s List, going after finding those sellers and buyers. I had not done that. So, shame on me.

Sean: It’s learning. I wish I would have started in the business years earlier, but timing just was at where I happened to trip across it in 2003. So, we all wish we could have started earlier, but the goal is to look at the past and not dwell on it and beat ourselves up about it, but look at the past and say, “Okay, what would I do differently?”

And for people listening who feel they’re in that period right now, where, “I’ll do it tomorrow, I’ll do it next week, I’ll get started on it over the weekend when I have some more time,” just get it done. Just like you said, excuses don’t produce results, results produce results, and the only way you’re going to get close to that gap, from where you are to where you want to be, is massive action.

What I’ve found is that, like I talked about, having it in front of you, like a carrot, every single day. Otherwise, you kind of forget it. And the things that you’re getting started, you’ve got to get excited about what you’re doing, and you’ve got to keep that excitement in front of you, and then you’ve got to pay attention. You’ve got to go out and learn something and apply it, learn something and do it. Learn something, like he went out this weekend and came back, and he got this new, rejuvenated energy and said, “Okay, I’m going to do it, I’m going to place some bids,” and all of a sudden, boom, now he’s got a property accepted that we’ll go out and turn around and sell.

And then the third thing is never quit. No matter what obstacle, no matter what problem gets in the way, it can be solved to where you can go out and get the results.
